The Latest: Cilic through to Australian Open quarterfinals

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The Latest on Sunday from the Australian Open (all times local):

4:15 p.m.

Marin Cilic won his 100th Grand Slam singles match and advanced to the Australian Open quarterfinals with a 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-6 (0), 7-6 (3) victory over Pablo Carreno Busta on Margaret Court Arena.

The sixth-seeded Cilic won his only Grand Slam singles title at the U.S. Open in 2014 when he beat Kei Nishikori in the final.

It is Cilic's 11th Grand Slam quarterfinal, leaving him level with Goran Ivanisevic for most appearances by a Croatian man at that stage.

Cilic's quarterfinal opponent will be either 2017 finalist and top-seeded Rafael Nadal or Diego Schwartzman, who were playing their fourth-round match at Rod Laver Arena. Cilic has only beaten Nadal once in six attempts.

Second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki is through to the Australian Open quarterfinals and with a chance to regain the No. 1 ranking in women's tennis.

Wozniacki beat Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3, 6-0 on Rod Laver Arena. Rybarikova double-faulted on break point to open the second set and start Wozniacki on her way to a dominant victory in 63 minutes.

Since nearly being eliminated in the second round by Jana Fett — Wozniacki trailed 5-1 in the third set before winning the last six games — she has won her next two matches in straight sets.

Wozniacki, who plays Carla Suarez Navarro in the quarterfinals, could return to the top ranking if she reaches the semifinals combined with other results, a spot she hasn't occupied for six years.

She has never won a Grand Slam singles title but lost the U.S. Open final twice — to Kim Clijsters in 2009 and to Serena Williams in 2014.

Carla Suarez Navarro is the first player through to the Australian Open quarterfinals after beating Anett Kontaveit 4-6, 6-4, 8-6 in the opening fourth-round match on Rod Laver Arena.

Konatveit, who has lost in the first round at Melbourne Park the past two years, served for the match at 5-4, but had her service broken by the Spanish player.

Suarez Navarro advanced on her third match point when the 22-year-old Estonian player hit a forehand long.

Suarez Navarro will play either second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki or Magdalena Rybarikova in the quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal was set to continue his quest for a second Australian Open title when he played Diego Schwartzman in an afternoon match on Rod Laver Arena.

Fourth-round singles play began Sunday, with third-seeded Grigor Dimitrov facing local hope Nick Kyrgios in a marquee night matchup.

Also playing in the round of 16 on Sunday were second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki and fourth-seeded Elina Svitolina. Svitolina's opponent was Denisa Allertova of Czech Republic, a qualifier but has not dropped a set in her three main-draw matches.

Attention will be focused on Court 14 for an early junior match between 17-year-old Sebastien Korda and Clement Tabur. Korda is the son of 1998 Australian Open champion Petr Korda, and Sebastien also has two sisters who golf on the LPGA Tour.
