Myron Degler, 91, Millersburg

MILLERSBURG — Myron Degler, 91, of Millersburg died Saturday morning, Jan. 20, 2018, at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, following an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Bob Hines officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Millersburg American Legion and the Killbuck VFW.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Millersburg, the son of David and Eva Gladys (Lint) Degler Jr. He married Shirley Mae Barksdale and she died April 18, 1994. He then married Joyce McVay. She survives.

He first worked for the Flxible Corp., and for 57 years owned and operated Millersburg Body and Auto.

He was a member of Millersburg Church of Christ and Marietta Church of Christ and later attended Holmesville Church of Christ.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Millersburg American Legion and the Millersburg Eagles.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Lee Degler of Millersburg, Sharon Hurst of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Vicky Moritz of Millersburg, Judy Weiser of Loudonville, Gale Schonauer of Millersburg and Brenda Guthrie of Millersburg; stepchildren, Rhona Wolfe of West Lafayette, Judy Duncan of Holmesville, Wanda Eikleberry of Wooster, Bobbi Jo Huskey of Mesa, Arizona, and Vicki McVay of Wooster; numerous grand- and great-grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Greene of Blairsville, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Lloyd Degler.
