The victim of a work-related accident in an Ames hydraulic motors manufacturing plant has been identified.
John Lavery, 45, of Ames died around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to a Sunday news release from the Danfoss Power Solutions company.
Lavery was injured while working the second shift of operations at the Danfoss 13th Street location in Ames. He was taken to the Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the release, the plant is investigating the incident, along with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials. The plant has stopped all production operations at their 13th Street and Airport Road locations.
Kurt Funke, the manager of communications with Danfoss, told the Register on Sunday that a meeting would be held later in the day to decide if the plant would reopen Monday.
"As of right now, it's undetermined," he said.
Lavery began working at Danfoss in October 2017. All Ames employees were informed of his death, and Danfoss is supplying onsite grief counseling, according to the release.
