Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a swipe at Arsenal for agreeing to let Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old was pictured arriving at Carrington for his medical on Sunday afternoon ahead of completing his transfer.

Sanchez's Arsenal contract was due to expire in the summer and the club decided to sell him now rather than lose him on a free. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will move to Arsenal in a straight swap deal.

Klopp had a dig at Arsenal ahead of the deal being completed by claiming no Liverpool players would ever leave Anfield for another Premier League club mid-season.

He said: "No Liverpool player of this squad would leave – and not just because we say it but because of their commitment to the club.

"No-one would leave to any other Premier League club during the season.

"I'm not just confident of that – I know it. It is just impossible. No player who is here will say, 'OK, come on, in the middle of the season I go there or there.' I really cannot see that situation."

Sanchez posted an Instagram Story video on Sunday morning of him boarding a private jet at Biggin Hill ahead of flying to Manchester.

The 29-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before signing his United contract after rejecting Manchester City to join the 20-times English champions.
