Having recently moved in with the in-laws whilst our house is renovated I find myself not detesting Radio 2*.
Is my life over?

It started with that ginger ball bag though ,listening to his moronic drivel first thing in the morning was sending me phsychotic

I commute an hour each way in the car - first 30-40 minutes of R4 for news and the R2 Breakfast show. On way home I refuse to switch to R2 until 5pm as Wright is such an arse and can't understand why he's still on the radio.

Radio 2 was my station of choice for a few years, now apart from pop master, I can't stand it.

I like the Ken Bruce show. I am now officially old. Chris Evans is too much to stand though.
Also like the Mayo evening show.
Steve Wright is a nob and is too dated even for Radio 2.
Jeremy Vine and his assorted collection of angry pensioners and van drivers can take a hike . As can Sounds of the 60s and whatever quasi-religious shite Clare Balding is doing whenever I'm driving to the Lakes.

Planet Rock is good but the adverts are annoying. The music is great though.
Radio 2 is okay and Simon Mayo's Drivetime is fantastic.

Radio 4.
Have spent the last 9 months or so listening, as my time spent driving g has increased considerably. Some great programmes on, finding it hard to like the Archers, and I definitely draw the line at GQT, but Jack Dee makes up for most of that. They do the news very well.Posted 7 hours ago # -
I'm preferring Radio 4 over Radio 2 at times!
Radio 2 needs to weed out the ex-Radio 1 dead wood though.
I don't even know what's going on with Radio 1. The stuff is garbage. I know I sound like my parents, but really what the hell are kids listening to now? It's all auto-tuned crap.
Other than that I spend most the time in the car hitting the next radio station button, getting frustrated with the independents, and cycling back.
Resorted to using the FM transmitter to play stuff from the phone, Spotify etc (annoyingly no inputs on my Civic, unless I pull the car apart to fit one).

Me too. I couldn't find a suitable non-annoying alternative to Wright so its Spotify until pm on Radio 4

Am i the only one to defend a few of the older djs, Steves show i like as well as Ken,Simon, Jo, Mark, the funk guy from corrie, the seventies coke guy show and lisa
However the ginger loud guy, vanessa or cluadia should all be stuck in a field with horses

Just had to log back in again, which is a bit like Radio 2 innit.
Turn the radio on, scroll a bit find something akin to pealing wallpaper off a ceiling and mentally “log in” to drivel.The only R2 shows worth tightening your incontinence pants to are Simon Mayo (but you can silence his lapdog sidekick up by forcing his head down his pants) and Bob Harris Country, the Soul and Funk show is interesting, but I still tune into Pete Tong, Dave Pearce and Trevor Nelson.
There are a few nuggets tucked away but we’re all in bed or watching BBC4 when they’re on.I reckon it’s overdue for a refresh, the programming schedules are too skewed toward blandness and beige but they do reflect the backward looking profiling the BBC use as a base for “ratings”

I basically use the iplayer app and download the best shows from 6music and the occasional Radio 1 and 2 shows, but combo of 6music and podcasts played from phone via head unit is the way forwards for me.

*sigh* don’t get me started, my team leader always has Radio 1 on, he’s a middle-aged man with a paunch, who seems to continually re-live his years as a clubber!
90+% of the station’s output is just cut’n’paste loops and breaks with some hired-in vocal, chucked out by a succession of random ‘producers’, with little musical merit.

Radio 4 or MP3 player but I never update the playlist so it does get boarding. Not found a decent radio station on FM. Xfm was good back in about 2003 or so but became like every other once it was bought out. Radio 1 has always been crap except for specific programs late in the evening. Every local radio station is pretty much a capital FM clone.

I gave radio 2 a listen again after a brexit news blackout.
Tuned in for the excellent Pop Master but was soon reminded how angsty music is these days.

Radio 1 for Essential mix
Radio 3 for Late Junction
Radio 4 for when i'm feeling dumb and need a brain boost
Radio 6 for pretty much everything else
And a mix of Radio Scotland (out of doors especially)All usually downloaded to the iPlayer app for listening when i want.
If at home i'll ask alexa forJames O'Brien on LBC for good measure for when i feel like uttering profanities at the phone in discussions (are people really that uneducated/thick?)
