The book that combines both the text and visuals in the cartoon and comic strip formats starkly reveal the irrelevance of the prevalent curricula to the social and cultural lives of children. The book also attacks the concepts of uniformity, similarity, conformity, forced discipline, control, acceptance of hierarchical structures, competition, inequity, politics and dominance in education system.
The book's format is interesting and educative since relevant cartoons and quotes have been blended to illustrate the feelings, thoughts and opinions of teachers, parents and children about the stark but sad reality of the school system that has become increasingly commercialized and mechanical.
The hundred-odd page thought-provoking book also advocates for imparting joy of learning to pupils and development of critical and creative thinking among them. The book also illustrates how schools promote inequality, by labelling and ranking students as well as driving them through reward and punishment.
The Hindi version of the book has been published by Eklavya - a non-profit, non-government organisation in Madhya Pradesh - has been used by them for sensitisation of teachers by the organization. Many other projects such as Lok Jumbish and Janshala have used the book for the attitudinal change trainings of teachers in various states.
