All That Jazz has not only become one of Bartlesville’s premier winter events, but success is mirrored in the lives of youth and adults who benefit from the Westside Community Center’s programs. The 16th annual All That Jazz will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hillcrest Country Club.
A United Way agency since 1951, the Westside Community Center has historically served the needs of residents in west Bartlesville. In recent years, however, the focus of the Center has expanded to become an integral part of the network of service organizations that meet the needs of the entire community. The center’s programs and services motivate and build character as well as provide education and recreation.
The 16th Annual All That Jazz honorary co-chairs Dennis and Debbie Halpin and Kaleigh and Daniel West bring a wealth of exposure to the Westside Community Center. Dennis and Debbie Halpin have not only attended All That Jazz for many years, but Dennis Halpin served on the Westside Bartlesville Redevelopment Committee from 2011-12. The committee provided recommendations for further development of west Bartlesville to the city council. Debbie Halpin is the executive director of Hopestone Cancer Support Center.
“I’ve always believed in the philosophy of the Westside Community Center,” Dennis Halpin said. “All That Jazz increases the awareness of the center’s programs to the Bartlesville community.”
Debbie Halpin agrees. “My interest in Westside Community Center lies in their desire to improve the lives of the children they serve,” she said. “They have a wide variety of programs to teach the children how to be better individuals and to be of service to others. Our children are our future. If we don’t educate and teach them how to be strong, service minded, confident and educated human beings, what will our future hold?”
Dennis Halpin is the executive vice president and CFO of Truity Credit Union, which provides financial support, guidance and assistance through its staff to the Westside Community Center’s W.E. Pro$per Program. He spoke at a W.E. Prosper graduation a few years ago.
The Wests, who co-own and operate Bartlesville’s premier athletic facility, Pure Health Performance, have also been involved with the Westside Community Center through their full-time positions at ConocoPhillips and the Bartlesville Public School District. Kaleigh West discovered Westside’s Peacefull Warriors program through her work as vice president for the LGBTA Employee Network at ConocoPhillips. The Peacefull Warriors, in their effort to teach conflict resolution, meditation and other anti-bullying measures, became a natural fit as the recipient of the employee network’s annual anti-bullying Boos and Brews fundraising event.
All That Jazz includes a reception, buffet dinner, door prize drawings and dancing to the live music of Tulsa’s Charlie Redd and the Full Flava Kings.
Reservations are $100 each ($70 tax deductible) and include event ticket and prize drawing entry.
