The pursuit began in Haltom City about 3:30 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a suspected drunken driver in the 2800 block of North Beach Street.

Haltom City officers pursed the vehicle northbound on North Beach Street and failed to stop the vehicle when they deployed tire deflation sticks.

"The vehicle continued through Haltom City until it went eastbound on NE Loop 820," Haltom City police Sgt. Eric Peters said in a Sunday news release. "The vehicle continued eastbound on SH183 through Hurst and Bedford then northbound on SH121 through Euless, Colleyville and into Grapevine."

The SUV exited the highway at Hall Johnson Road and continued northbound on the service road in Grapevine.

"At the intersection of the service road and Stone Myers, the vehicle continued northbound off the roadway into a construction area," Peters said. "The vehicle went up the embankment of the William D. Tate exit ramp where the driver lost control."

As the vehicle rolled down, the men who Haltom City police say appeared to be in their 30s were ejected, authorities said.

The men were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities had the northbound lanes of Texas 360 closed Sunday morning as police investigated the fatal crash.
