ROUNDUP: Strozier has triple-double in Holt win

HOLT – Josh Strozier’s triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists helped propel host Holt to a 61-58 boys basketball Class 4A, Area 7 win against Sipsey Valley on Saturday.

Strozier was one of three Ironmen who scored in double figures. Jaylan Merriweather scored 15 points and D.J. Robertson 11.

Sipsey Valley was powered by Dakari Smith’s 21 points, 16 from JaMirrus Fuller and 15 from Tyrin Lanier.

Holt (12-9, 3-1) will play an in-school game at Oak Grove on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

 

GIRLS

Tuscaloosa Academy 46,

Glenwood School 33

BIRMINGHAM - Co-scoring leaders for Tuscaloosa Academy in its win at top-ranked Glenwood were Kelsey Curry and Chloe Johnson, both with 14 points. Hannah English scored 12 points, making four of six shots from 3-point range.

Tuscaloosa Academy (20-1) plays in the AISA regional tournament on Friday.

 

Central 61,

Northridge 11

Central sophomore point guard Quintasia Leatherwood had 11 points and 10 assists. And, on a game in which its senior players were honored, seniors LaTarius Montgomery had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Trinity Totten 10 points.

Central (18-5) hosts Sumter Central on Tuesday.

 

Sipsey Valley 61,

Holt 45

HOLT - It was an AHSAA Class 4A, Area 7 win for Sipsey Valley. Yasmine Turner led with 19 points and both Taylor Smith and Denetria Williams scored 16.

Holt's Sierra Carter led the game with 32 points.

Sipsey Valley (18-1, 3-0) hosts Greene County on Tuesday.
