MERRILL, MI (WNEM) -

One person is dead and another is wounded after a shooting at an apartment building.

Police were called to the Merrill Bavarian Haus in the village of Merrill on Friday night, Jan. 19.

Richard Cody Skillman, a 21-year-old man, died on the scene from a gunshot wound to his chest during a party.

The suspect, a 21-year-old man from Merrill, who was injured from one gunshot wound.

Many people fled the scene, but police do have two witnesses.

He is not conscious with no indication that he will be able to talk in the future, authorities said.

Police believe there was only one gun involved in the shooting at this time and that alcohol was involved.

However, police are not sure until they get the blood results back from the autopsy.

Saginaw County Police are still looking for information on the shooting.
