Former Prez urges youth to purge politics

Pune: Former President Pratibha Patil on Sunday urged the youth of the country to join politics and help the sector emerge as an "honest profession".
Patil said this at the valedictory function of the Indian Student Parliament organised by MIT World Peace University.

"Students need to see the bright side of politics. We have the youth power that has the potential to script the future of India. Active participation of youth is needed for purification of today's politics," Patil said.


Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik was honoured with the ideal chief minister award during the function.


Scientist Raghunath Mashelkar said, "We are a land of ideas and time has come to emerge as a land of opportunities."


Vishwanath D Karad, founder president, MIT World Peace University and Rahul Karad, executive president were present among others at the function.
