Nate VanDokkenburg and Austin Norton's 1-2 offensive punch allowed Faith Christian to snap a four-game losing streak with a 61-49 boys basketball victory at Carroll.
VanDokkenburg scored a game-high 23 points, one more than Norton and the duo combined to shoot 15 of 30 from the field. Max Bolt and Norton each grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for the Eagles (7-7).
Aaron Atkisson led Carroll (3-9) with 11 points.
* Purdue wasn't the only team on a roll from 3-point range Saturday. Dawson Jacoby was 10 of 18 behind the arc and finished with 36 points in Rossville's 89-37 victory against Tri-Central.
Ronin Green added 14 points for the Hornets (7-6), who were 13 of 27 from 3-point range.
* Cam Chadd's 23 points led four players in double figures as Southmont outscored rival Crawfordsville 83-70.
Justin Howard added 19 points,Ty Williams had 17 and Pat Scheidler scored 12 for the Mounties (10-5).
Cameron Harris tried to spark a comeback for the Athenians (6-7), putting up 15 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter.
* Alex Siegfried scored a game-high 17 points to lead Frankfort (5-9) to a 66-39 victory against Clinton Central.
Ross Cripe's 11 points paced the Bulldogs (0-11).
Girls basketball
Sydney Jacobsen nearly outscored Muncie Central single-handedly, putting up 32 points Saturday in Harrison's 78-34 North Central Conference girls basketball victory against Muncie Central.
The Raiders (15-6, 7-2 NCC), who handed out 19 assists, took advantage of that unselfish play to also receive 10 points apiece from Olivia Stansbury and Liz York-Achor.
* Behind 21 points from Nykela Haskins, Lafayette Jeff completed an undefeated run through the North Central Conference schedule with a 65-49 victory against Richmond.
Kyrstin Green and Kiara Lewis each contributed 12 points for the Bronchos (18-1, 9-0 NCC)
* A day after recording the 1,000th rebound of her Twin Lakes career, Taylor Burns collected 13 more to go with 17 points in a 66-45 victory against Lewis Cass.
Josie Gutwein was 5 of 11 from 3-point range on her way to a game-high 22 points for the Indians (10-10). Maggie Gutwein added 18 points, including 10 of 13 from the free throw line.
* Katherine Lang's 14 points powered Delphi to a 41-35 victory against Seeger.
Lang also contributed eight rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Oracles (12-7).
Boys swimming
Sam Rice and Colin Mellady each won two individual events and contributed to a pair of victorious relays to lead Fountain Central to the Wabash River Conference championship.
The Mustangs held off South Vermillion 132-114, with Rice finishing first in the 200-yard IM and the 100 butterfly while anchoring the 200 and 400 free relays. Mellady touched first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Mellady and Walker Hands, who captured the 500 free, joined Rice and Aidan Shumaker in the free relay victories.
Diver Eric Medley and Jacob Rice (100 backstroke) were also individual WRC champions for Fountain Central.
* A strong finish by Crawfordsville allowed it to pull away from McCutcheon and capture the 23rd annual Athenian Invitational.
Crawforsdville’s winning 200 and 400 free relay teams (Sam Malott, Mitchell Karp, Dalton Humphrey and Jacob Pruett) sandwiched Humphrey’s 100 backstroke victory that allowed the Athenians to finish with 617 points to McCutcheon’s 518.
Lafayette Jeff was third with 396 points. Brandon Raley earned victories in the 50 free and 100 butterfly, and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team that also included Max Cockerill, Adin Vallier and Cole Martin. Diver Clayton Vandervate was first off the 1-meter board.
Chase Merrill of McCutcheon touched first in the 500 free.
Girls swimming
Despite seven victories, Fountain Central fell just short of the Wabash River Conference title as South Vermillion prevailed 112-103.
Tyler Bowling earned victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle races for the Mustangs. Brooke Nine was first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke in addition to anchoring the winning 200 and 400 free relay teams. Plus, Adison Hawk topped the diving field.
Seeger’s Skyler Ward earned victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
* Kate Gallager’s victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle races helped McCutcheon capture the 23rd annual Athenian Invitational.
The Mavericks outpointed host Crawfordsville 513-478, setting the tone with a victory from the 200 medley relay team of Abi Commons, Emma Saunders, Abigail Butts and Lydia Hitze. Kaitlyn Huckye also earned the 100 backstroke title for McCutcheon.
Crawfordsville swept the 200 and 400 free relays on the backs of Kaylee McCandless, Mackenzie Brown, Emily Humphrey and Cami McGrady. Brown also finished first in the 50 free.
Wrestling
Attica dominated the Bi-County field of Fountain Central (72-6), Seeger (71-6) and Covington (75-0).
The Red Ramblers (23-5) captured 12 weight classes: Avery Miller (106 pounds), Jordan Hodge (113), Chris Stout (120), Johnny Synesael (126), Hunter Purple (138), Jorden Douglass (145), Koaldon Kerr (152), Mason Hartman (160), Jack Hargan (170), Jacob Demumbrum (195), Kaleb Brinkman (220) and Conner Parker (285).
