2013 NFC Championship: The 49ers had their chance to come away winners in Seattle, that is until Colin Kaepernick challenged Richard Sherman. A drive that started on San Francisco's own 22-yard line ended when, on first down from Seattle's 18, Kaepernick went for Michael Crabtree in the end zone. He was covered by Sherman, who tipped the pass back to linebacker Malcolm Smith, who made the game-sealing interception. 2011 NFC Championship: Already in regulation, Kyle Williams had inadvertently let the ball graze his leg on a punt, which was recovered by the Giants and led to a touchdown for the Giants. Lightning struck twice, however, as in overtime Williams fumbled another punt, recovered by the Giants, leading to the game-winning field goal. 2011 AFC Championship: An unfortunate sequence of events for the Baltimore Ravens prevented the team from advancing to the franchise's second Super Bowl. Two plays after Lee Evans was stripped of the ball in the end zone -- on a play that could have given the Ravens the go-ahead score -- kicker Billy Cundiff shanked a 32-yard field goal attempt in the waning seconds to provide the New England Patriots with the 23-20 win and send the franchise to its seventh Super Bowl appearance. 2009 NFC Championship: Vikings quarterback Brett Favre threw a costly interception in the closing seconds of regulation deep into Saints territory. 2007 NFC Championship: The final pass for Brett Favre as a Packer at Lambeau Field was a costly interception in overtime. From there, the Giants' Lawrence Tynes hit a 47-yard game-winning field goal, giving New York an improbable 23-20 win. 2003 AFC Championship: The Colts' offensive juggernaut -- one that accumulated 5,874 yards and 447 points in the 2003 season -- was grounded by the Patriots in the cold and snow at Gillette Stadium. 1998 NFC Championship: Vikings kicker Gary Anderson hadn't missed a field goal all season, until his 38-yarder sailed wide left in the final minutes of regulation. 1995 AFC Championship: This thriller came down to one of the most memorable Hail Mary plays in playoff history. 1994 NFC Championship: The two-time defending champion Cowboys and the champion-to-be 49ers met in a super-sized showdown. The 49ers raced out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, and held off a comeback charge by the Cowboys to reach Super Bowl XXIX, where Steve Young got the monkey off his back with a record-setting six-touchdown performance against the overmatched San Diego Chargers.  ERIC DRAPER, Associated Press

1987 AFC Championship: Browns running back Earnest Byner was on his way to the game-tying touchdown until "The Fumble" happened. It was recovered by the Broncos in the final minute, and Denver held on for a 38-33 win. 1986 AFC Championship: With the Broncos 98 yards away from the end zone, John Elway proceeded to lead his team on what has simply become known as "The Drive", tying the game with a touchdown pass to Mark Jackson with 37 seconds remaining. Then, in overtime, Denver went on to score the game-winning field goal, defeating the Browns 23-20.  AP

1976 AFC Championship: After two consecutive AFC Championship Game losses to the Steelers, Ken Stabler and the Raiders finally got the best of their nemesis with a 24-7 AFC title game win. The Raiders, one of the most successful teams of the early Super Bowl era, also earned its long-awaited title, easily dispensing with the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI. That victory was the first of three over eight seasons and two cities for the Raiders, who also won Super Bowl XV and Super Bowl XVIII.  Associated Press

1967 NFL Championship: Bart Starr's quarterback sneak into the end zone with 16 seconds remaining clinched a 21-17 Packers victory in the Ice Bowl, a title bout played in the most difficult of conditions that became an all-time pro football classic. The win earned the Vince Lombardi-led Packers their fifth NFL championship over seven seasons, including an unprecedented three straight championships from 1965-1967. The Packers -- who own the most championships in NFL history -- would go a long 29 years before winning another title.  Associated Press
