Military service members who were wounded, captured or killed while serving in an area of conflict are honored during a wreath laying ceremony by the island' Military Order of the Purple Heart. Rick Cruz/PDN
If you were not injured overseas while fighting a war and received a Purple Heart please park your butt somewhere else other than their parking spot.
It wasn’t easy for the Purple Heart recipient or their family when they were injured in war. I have never been in any service, but two of my brothers were and earned a Purple Heart. To them, a Purple Heart doesn’t mean much because the medic would make a decision to save my brothers rather than the dying veteran next to them. A medic has to make that decision in case you didn’t know. Therefore, the Purple Heart recipients, most of them have to live with that curse on a day to day basis. Unless you’ve been in their position walk a mile when you go to the store so the Purple Heart Recipients can get the respect they deserve even if it’s just a small parking spot at any store.
God bless my brothers, Purple Heart recipients and all veterans.
