Haryana to celebrate four-day Saraswati Jayanti festival
Four-day Saraswati Jayanti, also known as Anand Ustava, is being celebrated from January 19 to 22 in various towns of Haryana in which various educational institutions, religious organisations and social groups are participating. On January 22, which is the birth day of Maa Saraswati, special worship will be offered in various temples and pandals.
The
devotional singing events, processions, prabhat pheris and cultural programmes
have been scheduled for four days in Kurushetra. Sarasvati Utsava celebration
has picked under the regime of the current government.
Maa Saraswati is worshiped as the goddess of learning, wisdom,
music, art, creativity, spring and nature. The deity is worshiped worshipped
throughout
India and Nepal. Saraswati is also worshipped in some other Asian
nations such as Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar. A few Buddhist sects too
celebrate the festival while the Jains hold the deity with great reverence.
The image of Maa Saraswati is generally shown to have four arms
which symbolically manas or mind-senses combine buddhi or intellect, citta or
creativity and atam-pehchan or self-awareness.
In Bengal, the festival is marked by initiating young children
learn how to write alphabets on that day. Bengalis celebrate the festival in
temples, public places, homes and educational institutes alike.
