New Delhi, Jan 21: The firecracker factory in Bawana industrial area, where a raging fire claimed lives of 17 people, did not have necessary clearances to carry the packaging of explosives at the site, claims Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation report. The owner of the factory has sought the permission to carry out the packaging of plastic items at the time of allotment, the report further adds.
Many locals had alleged the factory owner Manoj Jain, who was sent to judicial custody earlier in the day, had asked his workers to not to utter a single word about the factory to their relatives. Crime branch to conduct investigations
After a brief investigation, Delhi Police Commissioner Amul Patnaik on Sunday transferred the case of Bawana fire to crime branch. Delhi Police arrested the owner of the firecracker factory. The officials said it will ask for custody of Jain to continue the investigation after producing him before the court.
Nobody will be spared, says Satyendar Jain
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said autopsies were conducted only on the bodies that had been identified.”We have formed a committee to look into the matter. People showed us wrappers of firecrackers, I do not think anyone has a license to manufacture firecrackers in Delhi,” Jain said, adding it was a serious offence.
Jain also assured the culprits of the incident will not be spared even if he is Delhi government official. “Does not matter if the culprit is a private owner or a government official, action will be taken,” he added.
