THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rejendran has opined that the Leftist parties must use practical tactics to fight the main enemy.
He said that the daily life events teaches us the fact that we need a wider democratic platform to fight against the fascist and communal policies of the BJP government. If not we’d regret it one day, he said.
Inaugurating the party general meeting in Kattakada in connection with the CPI district meeting, he said that the 23rd Party Congress soon to be convened would discuss forming of a general platform including all parties that could be included against the BJP.
Kanam was indirectly referring to the CPM Central Committee’s decision to avoid forming an alliance with the Congress in the fight against the BJP.
“The CPI Party Congress that convened in Puducherry when Modi government completed one year in power evaluated it as the beginning of fascism. And after three years the Modi government has clearly shown signs of a fascist regimen. The Communist parties in all countries, while evaluating their political stance, would discuss and come to a conclusion about who their main enemy is, and the CPI has reached the conclusion that the BJP is the main enemy of the country after evaluating the characteristics of the Modi government. Besides, the Left Front has evaluated the BJP as the main enemy,” he said.
Kanam also said that all the Leftists organisations must work together, and that everyone with Leftist ideas must be united.
He added: “There could be differences but the answer to it is not splitting of the party. Unfortunately, the party is suffering from this process of splitting up, which started in 1964. The people responsible for this must consider the current situation and open their eyes. The CPI and the CPM are the only parties that agrees with each other in India now. Once there was the RSP and the Forward Block in the Left Unification Committee at the centre. The others including the SUCI and the CPI(ML) also joined during the Bihar elections. But now it has again boiled down to just the CPM and the CPI. This must change.”
Kanam also said that Kerala has taken up the huge responsibility to come up with an alternative to the liberal economic policy, and added that the government that is working towards this goal must be provided all the support.
