RAJSHAHI, Jan 20: A victim has been threatened by the accused to withdraw a case filed under pornography act in Baghmara Upazila, alleged her family at a press conference at Rajshahi Press Club on Thursday evening.
The victim's mother said a local pervert recorded her daughter bathing inside bathroom and threatened to upload the video online unless Tk 50,000 is given to him.
The victim's family filed a case under pornography act with Baghmara Police Station (PS) against the person. Police arrested him along with the video and sent him to jail after producing before court.
"Recently the family members of the offender threatened us to withdraw the case for which we are feeling insecure," the victim's mother added.
Contacted, the family of the accused denied the allegation of threatening the victim's family.
Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Baghmara PS, said, "We are looking into the allegation of the threat, and if it's true, necessary steps will be taken."
