Forest department to take up plantation of trees

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Saturday said two paddle boats would be introduced in Kanakan lake for promoting tourism.

In a release, Ms. Bedi said the Departments of Tourism and Public Works are working together to revive the lake to make it a major tourism spot.

The Tourism Department will take steps to set up a cafeteria and kiosk. To further green the surroundings of the lake and the pathway, the Forest Department will undertake plantation of trees. The police will install closed circuit television cameras to check the activities of anti-social elements.

The Oulgaret Municipality has been asked to builda community toilet near the lake. The lake will be dedicated to the public on February 2, the release added.
