Zimbabwe got off to a strong start with both the openers Solomon Mire and Hamilton Masakadza ensuring the side do not lose any wickets. The duo started slow but kept their wickets safe until the final ball of the powerplay. Nuwan Pradeep sent Masakadza packing and his wickets opened the floodgates of wickets. Thisara Perera took two wickets of Solomon Mire and the very dangerous Craig Ervine. Sikandar Raza too departed cheaply for 9 runs with Kusal Mendis taking a tremendous catch at square leg. Malcolm Waller and Bredan Taylor stitched a strong partnership and took the total past 100 before the former became a victim to Lankesh Sandakan and edges a ball straight to Niroshan Dickwella. Horrible mix-up in the middle sent Peter Moor for a golden duck and Brendan Taylor completed his half century before getting out for 58 off Thisara Perera.
