Sanchez announcement latest

15:35: Manchester United could wait until tomorrow to announce the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

That’s according to sports journalist Tom McDermott, who revealed the update on Twitter.

"Sanchez’s medical is this afternoon at Carrington, but the club are in no particular hurry to announce it today," he said.

"They might I’m told, but don’t be surprised if it’s tomorrow.

"Yeovil away in the FA Cup on Friday is likely to be the Chilean’s first #MUFC outing."

Sanchez hits back

14:35: Alexis Sanchez has thrown shade at critics of his mega-money Manchester United contract.

The Chilean has been branded a "mercenary" this week by plenty of critics, including Martin Keown.

And he's now fired back on Twitter by sharing a story defending his move to United.

Whether Sanchez will post his thoughts on the switch on social media remains to be seen.

Sanchez arrives at Man Utd

13:45: Alexis Sanchez has arrived for his medical at Manchester United.

Sanchez landed in Manchester earlier today after chartering a private jet from London.

Sanchez was seen sat in the back of a car, being driven to United’s training complex.

United are expected to announce Sanchez’s signing by Monday.

Sanchez lands

13:24: Well that was quick! Alexis Sanchez’s short-haul flight from London to Manchester is over.

He is said to have landed at Manchester airport, having thought to have departed from Farnborough this morning.

Sanchez will now make his way to Carrington for his medical.

Sanchez boards private jet

12:47: Alexis Sanchez has boarded a private jet on his way to Manchester.

The Arsenal star is thought to have departed from London Luton airport with the help of flight support firm Signature.

He filmed himself getting on the private jet via his instagram account.

He will head to Carrington for his medical today.

Man Utd panic

12:06: Paul Ince says the Manchester United forwards will be panicking over Alexis Sanchez’s impending arrival.

“He’s a world class signing, which is why everyone was desperate to get him,” Ince said.

“In that current United side, there’s no one like him.

“That can beat two, three, four players and find the net and totally change a game within minutes. There’s not been someone like that at United for a long time, either.

“I would imagine there are some players who are panicking about his arrival.

“Mourinho is clearly looking to improve and change that team up, to make them more enjoyable to watch.

“That means people will need to make way if they can’t meet the standard.

“You know what you’re getting from Romelu Lukaku. Anthony Martial can do that, when he switches on, which isn’t often.

“Marcus Rashford is still young and doesn’t get the game time, but none of those players are on the same level as Sanchez.

“None of them have got that wow factor. They’re good players on their day – but Sanchez is a game changer. He’s priceless.”

Sanchez at Carrington?

11:45: Alexis Sanchez is yet to arrive at Carrington for his Manchester United medical.

Express Sport understands United manager Jose Mourinho has given his players the day off after yesterday’s win over Burnley.

There have only been a few arrivals at the training ground so far this morning.

Sanchez is expected to have a medical later today and will meet his new team-mates on Monday.

Sanchez training debut

11:15: Jose Mourinho will put Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez through his paces at Carrington for the first time on Tuesday.

That’s according to journalist Samuel Luckhurst, who covers the Red Devils for the Manchester Evening News.

"Alexis Sanchez due at Carrington for his United medical today," he wrote on Twitter.

"Set to train with new teammates on Tuesday."

Sanchez is in line to make his United debut in next Friday night’s FA Cup fourth-round showdown with Yeovil.

Owen on Sanchez move

10:40: Alexis Sanchez is wrong to be joining Manchester United rather than Manchester City, says Michael Owen.

"There is clearly one major reason why Alexis Sanchez is choosing Manchester United over Manchester City," he explained to the Daily Mail.

"Naturally, as a footballer he wants to maximise his earnings but as an attacking player, I’m still surprised he would opt for Jose Mourinho over Pep Guardiola.

"As an attacking player, he must know that he is going to be asked to temper his game, certainly compared to the season he had under Guardiola at Barcelona or his time under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

"Maybe if I was a defender, I might prefer Mourinho but at United Sanchez will eventually conform to what Mourinho wants and that will restrict his performance. I don’t think a team like United should play that way."

Mkhitaryan price tag

09:50: BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone says Manchester United wanted more than £30m for Henrikh Mkhitaryan despite his misfit status at Old Trafford

"Worth bearing in mind Utd were asking £30m+ for Mkhitaryan even though there had been break down of trust with Mourinho," he wrote on Twitter.

"Ed Woodward done well to swap him for Sanchez.

"Both will do well I think."

Liverpool hijack claim

09:00: Liverpool tried to lure Alexis Sanchez to Anfield but could not compete with Manchester United in the financial stakes.

That’s according to the Daily Star, who say the Reds pounced after Manchester City ended their interest in the 29-year-old.

Liverpool have cash to burn following Philippe Coutinho’s whopping £142m move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

However, they were not prepared to commit to the £500,000-a-week wages that Sanchez is set to pick up at United.

Sanchez medical

08:10: Alexis Sanchez is poised to undergo a medical ahead of his swap deal move to Manchester United.

The Chilean said goodbye to his Arsenal team-mates on Friday before travelling up to the north west.

And a breakthrough in negotiations means he will undergo routine tests later on today.

Sanchez will become the Premier League's highest paid player ever if he passes his medical.

Mkhitaryan in London

07:20: Henrikh Mkhitaryan has played his last game for Manchester United and was spotted in London last night.

The Armenian has struggled to make an impression under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

But his sorry spell in Manchester is coming to an end with a medical at Arsenal set to take place today.

Mkhitaryan was spotted in London last night and Express Sport has the pictures here.

'24 hours' to complete deal

06:30: Manchester United could wrap up a deal for Alexis Sanchez by lunchtime.

That's according to the timescale provided by a club insider to Jonathan Pearce yesterday.

The BBC commentator told Football Focus: "As far as Alexis Sanchez is concerned, no updates today.

"I gather he said goodbye to the Arsenal players last night although stories that said he’s already had a medical have not been confirmed by Manchester United.

"I spoke to someone who’s close to Manchester United this morning. He thinks that deal will be done in the next 24 hours."
