Sherra Wright arrived at the Shelby County jail late Saturday to face murder charges in the 2010 slaying of her ex-husband, former NBA player Lorenzen Wright.

Wright, 46, was extradited from California, where she was arrested in December and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in her former husband's death.

She was picked up Thursday, earlier than initially planned, from the Riverside County Jail in California by Prison Transport Services, a Nashville-based private transport company the Sheriff’s Office contracts with to pick up out-of-state prisoners.

“Other than stopping for bathroom breaks they pretty much drove straight through,” said Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Floyd Bonner.

Bonner said Wright will undergo a medical and mental evaluation before she is placed in with the general population of prisoners.

Lorenzen Wright, a University of Memphis star who went on to play for the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies during his 13-year professional career, went missing July 18, 2010. Ten days later, his body was found in a wooded area near Callis Cutoff Road in Memphis shot at least five times. No arrests were made at the time.
