Today in history: On this date in 1990, American tennis player John McEnroe is disqualified from the Australian Open for misconduct. Called "Superbrat" by the British media, he got a conduct code violation in a fourth-round match against Mikael Pernfors, then a racket abuse violation and finally a violation for verbal abuse. That defaulted the match, which McEnroe was winning, to Pernfors.
