Aadhaar enrolment launched

“Postal service has always had an emotional connect with the people. We have to be thankful to the postmen who have cycled and delivered letters to our homes” said R. Gopalakrishnan, Member of Parliament from Madurai while addressing the launch of the Aadhaar enrolment and upgrading service at the Madurai Head Post Office on Saturday.

He said that though the services had advanced through technology the connect with the postal service was intact.

The scheme introduced by the Central Government was a noble one and would benefit the public, he said. He also launched the National Career Service, a portal for jab matching, at the event.

N. Shriharsha, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Madurai Division, while speaking at the event said that the enrolment and upgrading services would be extended throughout the district.

Speaking about the National Career Service, he said the public could register at the Head Post Office by paying a nominal fee of ₹15 towards the scheme and seek jobs matching with their profile.

Senior Postmaster, Madurai Head Post Office, N. Naganathan, thanked the gathering.

Later speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Shriharsha said that the any of the 18 prescribed proof of identity should be produced for availing the services of Aadhaar enrolment and upgrading. For the correction, the same procedure would be followed, he said.

Regarding the National Career Service, he said proof of identity along with education details could be uploaded on the portal. Once the process is completed online, candidates will get alerts on their mobiles phones regarding job alerts.
