In a horrific incident reported from Tamil Nadu's capital city of Chennai, an 18-year-old was hacked to death in wee hours of Saturday morning while on his way to home.

The murder took place on the Tank Bunk road in the Nungambakkam area and was caught on CCTV cameras. The visuals show the accused men grab Ranjith by neck and brutally hacking him to death.

The police was intimated by the locals who raised an alarm after noticing a trail of blood.

The 18-year-old was identified as a student of ITI college in Guindy by his ID card.

The police then took him to the government-run KMC Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to initial reports, the police is trying to gather information from Ranjith's friends to know if there was any threat to his life.

As the police examines the CCTV footage, teams have been formed to nab the accused. As of now, the motive remains unknown.
