Bayou Industrial Group to hold annual banquet
Phillip May, president/CEO of Entergy Louisiana, is the keynote speaker for the Bayou Industrial Group's annual banquet on March 13 at the Wellness Center of Thibodaux Regional.
May's presentation is titled "Powering Louisiana through Economic Development and Community Investment."
The 2018 BIG Achiever Awards will also be presented.
Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program begins at 7 p.m.
The cost is $70, tables for eight cost $560 and sponsorships run from $300 to $2,500.

TGMC add physicians to staff
Terrebonne General Medical Center has added Dr. Azadeh Beheshtian, a cardiologist, and Dr. Patricia B. Manhire, emergency medicine specialist, to its staff.
Beheshtian is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. She earned her medical degree and completed her internship at Tehran University of Medical Services in Tehran, Iran.
She completed her internal medicine residency from the University of Southern California and her post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco in the Department of Neurology.
Manhire earned her resident nursing degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She worked in Alaska as a family nurse practitioner for several years until returning to medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences, earning her doctor of osteopathic medicine. She then completed her emergency medicine internship at Ingham Hospital in Lansing, Mich., and her emergency medicine residency at Michigan State University.
She brings extensive experience in the emergency medicine field, working most recently at a Level II Regional Trauma Center. She has also served as an interim and assistant emergency department medical director.
Thibodaux woman to head transport council
Thibodaux native Tammy Z. Cedotal, representing Arabie Trucking Services, was confirmed as chairwoman of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association’s Safety Management Council.
Founded in 1939, LMTA represents about 400 truck and related industry companies throughout Louisiana and the nation. The council promotes safety on the highways and enhances the public concept of the trucking industry.
Assistance offered for contractor licensing
Proprietors of construction companies and entrepreneurs who want to become licensed general contractors may be eligible for tuition assistance to the Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute.
The institute, a Fletcher Technical Community College program, is broadcast at community colleges throughout the state over a six-week period. The class offers information about construction management and preparing for the business law portions of the state licensing exam.
Limited tuition assistance is available to those who potentially qualify as disadvantaged business enterprises.
The Terrebonne Economic Development Authority will also offer technical assistance to aid graduates with strategic business planning, completing contractor’s qualification statements and profiles, registration with Central Contractor Registration, certification as a disadvantaged business enterprise and registration with various public agencies issuing project contracts.

Terrebonne chamber to hold Jan. 24 banquet
Tickets are on sale for the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet and awards ceremony.
It’s scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center.
At the banquet, the chamber will recognize its outgoing and incoming officers, give out several awards and recognize Terrebonne’s Teenager of the Year and the recipient of HTV’s Eugene Folse Outstanding Veteran award.
The Courier's Terrebonne's Most Useful Citizen for 2017 will also be named.
The keynote speaker will be Phil Roop, a Christian minister and motivational speaker.
