PALMER
A steady offensive attack led the Maypearl Panthers to a District 17-3A road win Friday night against the Palmer Bulldogs.
Maypearl kept its stranglehold on the second spot in the district standings and picked up a second-straight win, defeating Palmer 53-39.
The win improved the Panthers to 19-6 on the season and 5-2 in district play. The Panthers still trail (17-4, 7-0) Grandview for the top spot in the district standings.
For Maypearl, senior Jake Wiggins scored nine of his game-high 21 in the 18-point Panther third quarter.
Gunner Petty added 15 points, while Carson McManus scored nine, Garrett Evans had four, Josh Calhoun chipped in three, and Tristen Bigman recorded one point.
The Panthers return to action Tuesday, Jan. 23 on the road against third-place Keene. Maypearl narrowly defeated Keene the first go-around, 50-44, at home.
Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
