Kumarkhali upazila administration imposed Section 144 on a school premises yesterday as Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) called meetings at the same venue and same time.
A tense situation is prevailing between the two groups over formation of managing committee of Choraikol Government Primary School, said UNO Md Shahinuzzaman.
The BCL men on Friday beat a Kumarkhali upazila unit JSD activist over the issue.
JSD arranged a protest meeting on the primary school premises yesterday where Kumarkhali upazila BCL also called a counter meeting at the same time.
Additional policemen have been deployed in the area to avert any further trouble, said the UNO.
