Sri Lanka's captain Angelo Mathews will return home after doctors suggested that he will need three weeks rest after having hurt his right hamstring during the team's opening ODI against Zimbabwe on Wednesday in the ongoing tri-nation series.
Mathews missed the second ODI against Bangladesh but the team management kept him in Dhaka until doctors who treated him in England during Champions Trophy assessed the injury. They were hoping that the captain will be able to play during some stage of the series, but on Saturday, they were informed that he will be out for three weeks.
Dinesh Chandimal, the Test captain, will lead the side during the rest of the ODIs.
