Restaurant Week helps local businesses bounce back

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Businesses on the Downtown Mall hope that Restaurant Week will bring more business after the rallies over the summer.

Restaurant Week is meant to celebrate local restaurants in the city.

Businesses saw an 11 percent decrease from the meals tax this August compared to the year before.

Curtis Shaver, the head chef at Hamilton's, is looking forward to more people coming in during Restaurant Week.

"I think there's other things that need to be done getting more buzz on the mall and things like that that the city can help with, but hopefully Restaurant Week will bring back the bodies down to the Downtown Mall," said Shaver.

Restaurant Week continues through Sunday, Jan. 28.
