KENNER, La. (AP) " Kenner mayoral candidate Vinny Mendoza has been kicked off the ballot, leaving incumbent Mayor Ben Zahn and two challengers.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports state District Judge Lee Faulkner Jr. disqualified Mendoza Friday from the March 24 election amid evidence that he hasn't lived in Kenner for at least three years, as required by the city's charter.
The lawsuit was filed by Richard Brown and Stacey Allesandro of Citizens for a Better Kenner. Evidence shows that Mendoza lives in Ponchatoula, has been registered to vote in Tangipahoa Parish since 2012 and voted there 12 times.
Zahn is seeking a full, four-term term after winning a special election in 2016 to succeed Mike Yenni. Retired longshoreman Al Morella and Donna Reynaud, a retired nurse who is married to City Councilman Keith Reynaud, also are on the ballot.
