Northern Kentucky turns away Green Bay 77-65

Lavone Holland II scored 16 points, including a pair of baskets that blunted a Green Bay rally, and Northern Kentucky beat the Phoenix 77-65 on Saturday.

After Green Bay got within five with 6:11 to go, Holland made consecutive baskets, Tyler Sharpe added another and Drew McDonald a 3-pointer in 9-0 run.

Northern Kentucky opened the second half with 10 straight points to lead 50-31. Green Bay cut into the deficit over the next 10 minutes with Sandy Cohen III scoring nine points and Khalil Small seven, outscoring the Norse 25-11 to get within five, 61-56, with 6:11 remaining.

McDonald scored 15 points, Carson Williams 14 and Jordan Garnett, with four 3-pointers on five attempts, 12 for the Norse (14-6, 7-1 Horizon League), who won their third straight and seventh in eight games.

Small scored 17 points, Cohen 15 and Kameron Hankerson 13 for Green Bay (8-15, 3-7).
