An exhibition on Martand Singh, India's textile man, opens today in Delhi

The range of artistic textile creators includes Vadilal Lakhmanbhai of Ahmedabad who made ritual textiles for the goddess cult, now recognisable by its traditional name, Mata-ni-Pachedi

Martand Singh was the much-loved master of India’s textile world in the 1980s and continued to be respected for his contribution to its growth, his inspiring vision that motivated many younger associates and his impeccable design aesthetic. He passed away in 2017.

The Ministry of Textiles and the Devi Art Foundation are mounting a much-needed tribute to his work by exhibiting some of his textile creations at the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum in New Delhi.
