Like the true patriot that he is, Akshay Kumar helps raise Rs 12.93 crore for Bharat Ke Veer initiative – watch video

Akshay Kumar has, over the years, established himself as a responsible Indian citizen by not only contributing to patriotic causes but also addressing the social issues plaguing the country through his films. With Pad Man now releasing on February 9, as a goodwill gesture of the actor towards his director-friend Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the actor has time on his hands for a few more of his patriotic ventures.

After holding a press conference yesterday with Padmaavat’s director, the actor today flew down to Delhi to attend the launch of the Bharat Ke Veer anthem. The anthem, sung by Kailash Kher, was launched with much enthusiasm. And what’s more, they were able to even raise a huge sum of Rs 12.93 for the initiative. Akshay immediately took to Twitter to share the piece of good news with everyone. Here’s what he tweeted…

Bharat Ke Veer is an initiative to help raise funds for the families of martyred soldiers. It is a portal through which one can immediately transfer money directly into the accounts of the martyr’s families, thus helping them monetarily. Such a noble cause should have a popular face representing it such that more and more donations are made and thankfully Akshay has taken it upon himself to be the one speaking up for it.
