The director is TTD Board member since 2015

It’s curtains over the suspense on appointment of Chairman for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) pending long with the government. Ace Telugu director K. Raghavendra Rao is most likely to be appointed as Chairman, according to sources close to the Chief Minister’s Office. The post has been lying vacant for about a year after Chadalavada Krishna Murthy completed his term early 2017.

“A top functionary in the government had a meeting with the director recently in Hyderabad. Now the government has sought his detailed profile to take the process forward. A communication from a Special Secretary has already gone to him,” said the source. Mr. Rao could not be reached for comment.

In fact, the TTD, custodian of India’s richest God Balaji, is not new to Mr. Rao as he has been serving as one of its Board members since 2015. The talk is doing the rounds in the film industry and social circles. “It’s not a surprise. He is already a Board member and senior director who made many devotional films, mainly on Lord Venkateswara. It is most likely to happen I suppose,” said Telugu and Tamil director and Nandi awardee Geeta Krishna.
