OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has amended her executive order calling for a special legislative session to include new tax increases and policy changes endorsed by a group of civic and business leaders. Fallin amended her call Friday to ask lawmakers to consider tax hikes on tobacco, motor fuel and energy production, along with adjustments to the income tax code. Many of those proposals were included in a plan unveiled earlier this month by civic and business leaders.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Federal officials have approved an Indian tribe's request to put more than 100 acres of land into trust to pave the way for a 42,000-square-foot casino in the Oklahoma Panhandle. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke joined Gov. Mary Fallin on Friday for a signing ceremony for the approval of the Shawnee Tribe's application. Zinke said in a statement making "tribal sovereignty meaningful" is a priority.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma Mark Yancey is stepping down to take another federal post in South Carolina. The U.S. attorney's office in Oklahoma City announced Friday that Yancey is resigning the post he's held since January 2016. Yancey will be replaced in Oklahoma City by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Troester, who has worked in the office since 1995 and has served twice previously as acting U.S. attorney.
OILTON, Okla. (AP) - The mayor of Oilton in northeastern Oklahoma is charged with felony counts of embezzlement and making or receiving kickbacks. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Friday that 62-year-old Patrick Leon Kennedy was arrested after questioning by OSBI agents at his home in Oilton, about 30 miles west of Tulsa. Court records don't list an attorney for Kennedy and he didn't immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
