MELROSE — The BOLD boys basketball team met with Melrose Friday night in a battle for West Central Conference supremacy. The Dutchmen entered with the better record and played the better game, taking a 71-60 win over the Warriors.
In a game that at times looked more like a track meet with all of its running, both teams were able to control the paint as well. Regan Nelson paced the Dutch with 17 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. His BOLD counterpart, Carter Henry, finished with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Jordan Sagedahl knocked in 20 points for the Warriors but Melrose added two more double-digit scorers with Damon Van Beck's 18 and Preston Keaveny's 17 to create the deficit.
The Dutchmen now hold a two-game advantage in the West Central Conference standings and appear to be in the driver's seat moving forward.
BOLD will look to snap a two game slide Tuesday when they visit Sauk Centre to take on the Mainstreeters.
