Assam state Congress and Advocates' Association stage protest in Guwahati demanding probe into Justice Loya's death
Demanding a proper probe into the mysterious death of CBI special Justice BH Loya, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Advocates' Association of Assam today staged a demonstration in Guwahati.

Led by the APCC president Ripun Bora, hundreds of Congress workers gathered in front of the Meghdoot Bhawan, the head office of the Assam Postal circle at around 11 am on Saturday and shouted slogans in support of their demand.

The APCC president alleged that the country's democracy is under threat. He further alleged that the executive has tried to encroach upon the jurisdiction of the Judiciary.

"We demand a free and fair inquiry into the mysterious death of Justice Loya by a competent investigative agency. The NDA government has posed as a threat to Judiciary ', Bora added.

The leader of the Opposition in the state assembly as well as congress MLA Debabrat Saikia, taking part in the protest, told reporters that they had staged the protest following the direction of the All India Congress Committee. The Advocates' Association, on the other hand, staged a silent demonstration at Panbajar, in the heart of the city. The Association, too, demanded proper investigation into the Justice Loya's mysterious death.

Justice Loya had died under mysterious circumstances three years ago on November 30, 2014 at Nagpur while hearing the Sorhabuddin fake encounter case in which the present BJP president Amit Shah was accused. After his sudden demise, the CBI special court exonerated Shah from the case.
