A man suffering from gunshot wounds collapsed on the doorstep of a homeowner in a gated Stone Oak community Friday night as he sought help, according to police.

San Antonio police say they have few leads and are currently trying to piece together events surrounding the shooting on the far North Side that occured about 11:40 p.m., and left the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim rang the doorbell at a residence near the beginning of the short surban street, Sable Canyon, near Hardy Oaks Elementary School, claiming he had been shot before collapsing, police say.

Officers at the scene said the victim did not give them much information, but did tell them he knows the shooter.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
