Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Friday has come to the rescue to the minor girl who was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Sileru on Wednesday.

Visiting the office of the Superintendent of Police on Friday, she expressed displeasure over the reluctance of the police to provide medical assistance to a minor rape-victim. She then took the victim to King George Hospital (KGH) for treatment in her own vehicle.

It is learnt that the 8-year-old girl was kept at the SP’s office for the last two days for investigation without providing any medical aid. She was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Sileru forest area on Wednesday. Her parents have lodged a complaint on Thursday.

According to the police, the accused was identified as Pangi Jinnu (40) who is also a tribal from the same village. He allegedly took the girl inside the forest under the pretext of giving the girls some fruits and raped the girl. The preliminary investigation has revealed that Jinnu has committed the crime. A case has been booked against the accused under Section 376 (Rape) of IPC and Section 3 of POSCO Act.
