The Celtics are going to temporarily fill their vacant roster spot this weekend.
According to Yahoo Sports, the team will sign Jarell Eddie, who has been playing in the NBA G League, to a 10-day contract.
The Celtics entered the season with 14 players on the active roster plus two others who are on two-way contract and are with the Maine Red Claws.
Eddie, a 6-foot-7 forward from Virginia Tech, has made 50 percent of his shots from 3-point range this season with the Windy City Bulls of the G League.
The Celtics’ offense has struggled at times season season, and without Kyrie Irving, they were held to 80 points in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night.
Eddie was not drafted after completing his college career in 2014. He signed with the Washington Wizards and played 26 games in the 2015-16 season, averaging 2.4 points in 5.7 minutes.
Eddie was also with the Phoenix Suns for five games last season, scoring 4.8 points in 12.4 minutes.
This is his fourth season in the G League where Eddie has played 110 games and averaged 13.9 points, hitting 45 percent from 3-point range.
