Anjali flung out of the vehicle due to rash driving and got crushed by rear wheel

Yet another kid’s life was snuffed out as the driver of her school’s mini bus drove rashly to skirt speed-breaker at Vanasthalipuram here on Saturday. Six-year-old P. Anjali got thrown out of the mini bus, the door of which was kept open, as the driver swerved to a side suddenly, and came under its rear wheel. Death was instant for the child.

The girl was studying in class I in Prashanthi Vidya Niketan School in Self Finance Colony of Vanasthalipuram.

Her elder sister P Shivani, a class II student at the same school, was sitting next to her in the bus when the incident happened.

Eyewitnesses told The Hindu that to avoid a speed-breaker, driver Narasimha took the bus on to the dirt track and swerved the bus back to the road, following which Anjali was flung out of the bus and came under the wheel.

The girl sustained severe injuries and was shifted to the Government area hospital in Vanasthalipuram, where she was declared brought dead.

Anjali’s father P Nagaiah and her mother P Pushpa work in a brick kiln in Saheb Nagar of Vanasthalipuram.

Ms Pushpa said the incident took place around 8.35 a.m. when she went to see her daughter off to school and five minutes after the girls boarded the bus, the driver called up her husband, asking him to come to the hospital.

“When we reached the hospital, we found our daughter’s body. All happened within 20 minutes,” she said.

Based on a complaint lodged by her father, the police registered a case against the bus driver.
