Today I bring you a rifle through one of my best friend’s makeup bags. Presenting: Mrunmayee. We met in college at the grand age of 19 and we’ve always been bonded over our love of makeup (Mrunmayee was a L’Oreal Glam Shine Gloss gal back in the day). Now an Account Head, she’s my one friend that shares my passion for Sephora and the aisles of Beauty Center, regularly messaging me over pictures of her latest beauty purchase. She’s also a bold lip babe, a liner lover and likes a good dose of blush. Here’s how the contents of her daily makeup bag shapes up…
“I don’t wear a huge amount of makeup on a day to day basis – I think I’ve got my routine down to a five minutes in the morning. I’d rather be catching up on sleep! Whether I should use a base depends on how good my skin is. If it’s good I’ll leave it at that, but if things aren’t looking too great then I go for Lakme’s 9to5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation in Silky Golden. I use the sponge to apply this – I never bother with brushes. I love a bit of blush, though not a lot and recently I’ve been using the Maybelline Colour Show Blush in Fresh Coral that Gauri recommended for me. I literally put my finger in it, wipe it across my cheeks and I’m done. It’s soft, blowy and great.
I don’t wear eyeshadow everyday, but when I do I love my Maybelline The 24K Nudes Palette. That’s a good palette if you don’t want to look too done and just do a little shadow and liner. Speaking of liner I use the Avon True Colour Glimmerstick Eyeliner in Blackest Black – this is what I’ve got on today. It’s cheap and cheerful. Mascara-wise it’s all about the Avon Simply Pretty Long Lash Mascara – this is now my all-time favourite mascara. (Note from Gauri – may I just point out that Mrunmayee has the most amazing naturally curly and full lashes EVER). I always have the Avon Naturals Cherry Lip Balm in my bag – just to throw on throughout the day and I tend to carry around a few lipsticks with me too. Today it’s Lakme’s 9to5 Lipstick in Pink Bureau and Maybelline’s Colour Sensational Lip Colour in Hooked on Pink. The Lakme is my all-time favourite lipstick – I love bold lips – I don’t like anything that is too rosy pink and Pink Bureau is a bit more coral, with gold flecks. The Maybelline is great to throw on when you’re feeling like crap – it just brightens up your lips. Other bolds I love include Maybelline’s Lipstick in Berry Bossy – love it. I always think you have to be minimal on the eye makeup if you’re going to do an out there lip so I usually pair mine with a thin line of eye liner, with a very tiny flick at the end – a kitten flick.”
