As part of the campaign, a health workforce will begin home visits across the State

A health workforce led by the Departments of Health and Local Self-Government, including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Corporation chairpersons, leaders of local bodies bodies, ward members, health standing committee chairpersons and volunteers, will begin home visits across the State on Sunday as part of the Arogya Jagratha campaign.

The campaign is to create public awareness on the need for regular and consistent preventive measures to keep the annual outbreaks of infectious diseases away. The teams will visit individual homes, assess the health and environmental situations in each place and give necessary guidance and advice to people on how they could adopt preventive measures against infectious diseases.

The health team will address individuals on how people’s participation is crucial in promoting personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, garbage processing and management, maintaining drinking water safety, and organising sustained vector-control measures.

There will be one team for every 25-30 households and at least three persons in every team. The details collected from each households will be reviewed by the ward-level health and sanitation committees and the panchayats to prepare a draft working plan at the ward and the panchayat-level.

The Director of Health Services has appealed to the public to cooperate with the department’s efforts to launch preventive measures early on and to focus on vector-control measures and scientific garbage management to ensure that infectious diseases do not break out.
