Gujarat MLA in soup following cancellation of caste certificate

| | GANDHINAGAR

Bhupendra Khant, the newly-elected legislator from tribal reserved Morva Hadaf seat in Central Gujarat, landed in trouble on Friday following the cancellation of his caste certificate by

Tribal Development Commissioner.

The Commissioner gave the order after couple of complaints filed against Khant with the Commission about his status as member of tribal community. In fact one complaint had come well ahead of  the assembly elections.

Originally a congressman Khant contested as independent candidate from Morava Hadaf assembly constituency in the recently concluded assembly polls as Congress decided not to put it's candidate as part of seat sharing agreement with Bharatiya Tribal Party.

As the result came Khant as an independent candidate emerged victorious defeating BJP candidate Vikram Dindore by nearly 4000 votes.

When contacted Khant said that he would consult his legal advisors and take further action.
