CALLAWAY — A Bay County mother accused of pepper-spraying a teenager while allegedly trying to fight another minor has posted bond, according to court records.

Tabatha Lynn Bloodsworth, 35, recently posted a combined bond of $10,000 in connection with the case. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bloodsworth at her North Bob Little Road trailer Jan. 15 after receiving reports that she had pepper sprayed a 15-year-old who tried to stop her from attacking another minor.

Bloodsworth faces two counts of child cruelty without great bodily harm in the case, court records stated. She is scheduled to return to court March 6 and has been court ordered not to have contact with the victims without the approval of the Department of Children and Families.

What started the altercation was unclear. According to BCSO reports, Bloodsworth had been involved with an argument with two minors inside the house, including the 15-year-old, that culminated in her spraying the 15-year-old with in the face with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, commonly known as pepper spray.

BCSO reported the teen fled the residence out onto a dirt roadway, where he could have been struck by a car.

“As a result of (Bloodsworth’s) actions, the victim ran out of the residence, blinded by the OC spray, to get away from (Bloodsworth),” officers wrote. “The victim stated they were trying to keep (Bloodsworth) from attempting to fight another minor child who was outside the residence…”

When officers arrived about 6:15 p.m., witnesses had stepped in to prevent Bloodsworth from striking that child, whom they said she had pinned on the ground outside.

BCSO reported Bloodsworth had grabbed the minor by the hood of his sweater and thrown him to the ground. She then got on top of the child and wound back as if she was going to strike him, BCSO reported.

Several nearby witnesses stepped in, however, and that minor did not suffer any permanent injury. The 15-year-old sustained “severe redness” to the face but was treated by EMS crews on scene, BCSO reported.
