Looking for entertainment in the Peoria area? Here are five things to do this week.
1 SUNDAY
The Central Illinois Jazz Society will perform at 6 p.m. followed by Kevin Hart & the Vibe Tribe at 7:15 p.m. at the Trailside Event Center, 4416 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights. Admission is $6 for CIJS members, $8 for nonmembers and free for students.
2 MONDAY
David Billings, an antiracist trainer, former ordained Methodist minister and race historian, will discuss his new book, "Deep Denial, The persistence of white supremacy in the United States history and life," at 11 a.m. at the Peoria Public Library's North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Parkway, and at 6 p.m. at Peplow Pavilion of the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center at Bradley University. Admission is free and open to the public.
3 FRIDAY
The Peoria Rivermen return home to host the Evansville Thunderbolts at 7:15 p.m. at Carver Arena. It's Faith and Family Night, featuring a post-game concert by The Afters. Tickets start at $12.
4 SATURDAY
The Chilly Billy Winter Sporting Event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Camp Wokanda, 620 E. Boy Scout Road, Chillicothe. The $5 general admission fee includes a chili lunch, open ice fishing, a winter survival class, a winter tree ID hike and maple syrup tours. 5 SATURDAY
St. Joseph Catholic School of Pekin will host the second annual "Taste of Pekin" from 6 to 9 p.m. at the school, 300 S. Sixth St., Pekin. Pekin area restaurants will sell some of their most popular menu items along with beverages. There also will be musical entertainment, games, dancing, a book fair and a scavenger hunt. Admission is free and open to the public.
SUNDAY January 21
Bridal show
The "Weddings Unveiled" bridal show will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette, 501 Main St. To register, visit www.peoriabridal.com.
Trombone ensemble
The Crossbones trombone ensemble will perform at 8:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 116 NE Perry Ave. Admission is free.
Afternoon of music
Sally Barris will perform as part of the Music in the McKenzie series from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Peoria Public Library's North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Parkway.
MONDAY January 22
Classic flick
The Monday Morning Movie series will feature a free showing of the 1945 film, "Road to Utopia," starring Bob Hope, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Peoria Public Library's McClure Branch, 315 W. McClure Ave. Popcorn will be served.
Olympics movie
Get ready for the Winter Olympics with a free showing of "The Cutting Edge" from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Peoria Public Library's North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Parkway.
1920s film
The Movies by Decade series will feature a free showing of the 1921 film, "The Kid," from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peoria Public Library's Lakeview Branch, 1137 W. Lake Ave.
Pro-life rally
The Sanctity of Human Life Rally, hosted by Central Illinois Right to Life, will begin with a prayer march around the Federal Courthouse at the corner of Main and Monroe streets at 6:30 p.m. The rally will follow at 7 p.m. at Riverside Church, 207 NE Monroe St., where Jason Jones, a filmmaker and human rights activist, will speak.
TUESDAY January 23
ACT or SAT?
The free program, "Which Test...ACT or SAT," will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dunlap Public Library, 302 S. First St., Dunlap. Learn about the college entrance standardized tests and which one colleges prefer. For more information, call 243-5716.

The Bradley University men's basketball team will host Missouri State at 7 p.m. at Carver Arena.

In concert
The opening night concert of the 2018 Illinois Music Educators Conference will feature the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Tickets are $5.
THURSDAY January 25
Family film
A free showing of "Goodbye Christopher Robin" will be at 6 p.m. at Chillicothe Public Library, 430 N. Bradley Ave. Popcorn will be served; bring your own bowl.
Edible landscapes
Learn how to design a beautiful, abundant ornamental flower, fruit and vegetable garden during the free program, "Creating Edible Landscapes," at 6 p.m. at Pekin Public Library, 301 S. Fourth St., Pekin. For more information, call 347-7111.
Adult fun
HopScotch, an evening of fun for adults ages 21 and older, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Peoria PlayHouse. Radon testing

Attention brides
The 21st annual Weddings of a Lifetime Bridal Show, Central Illinois’ largest bridal show, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Embassy Suites Center Ballroom, 100 Conference Center Drive, East Peoria. The 2018 IMEC All-State Jazz Night Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Lady Braves
The Bradley University women's basketball team will host Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Coliseum. Tickets are $8.
SATURDAY January 27
IMEC concerts
The Illinois Music Educators Conference's All-State Elementary Concert will be at 12:15 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center's 4th floor ballroom. The all-state concert will be at 1 p.m. followed by the honors concert at 3:15 p.m., both at Carver Arena. Tickets are $5 and good for all three concerts.
Portraying Mrs. Lincoln
Laura Keyes will take on the role of Mrs. Lincoln to share her story in the entertaining and educational program, "Mrs. Lincoln Goes to Washington City," at 2 p.m. at Fondulac District Library, 400 Richland St., East Peoria.
