Aldridge scores his 1000th point of the season in loss to Raptors
Having only lost three home games this season, the Toronto Raptors proved to be too much for the Spurs on Friday night. The Spurs fell to 11-15 on the road after the 86-83 loss.
With 17 points against Toronto, LaMarcus Aldridge recorded his 1000th point of the season — making him and LeBron James the only two players to accomplish that in each of the past 11 seasons.
Despite being without Kawhi Leonard, Manu Ginobili and Rudy Gay, the Spurs held their own for most of the first quarter. Backed by eight points from Pau Gasol the Silver & Black went into the second quarter up 18-17 over the Raptors.
After the Spurs did not score for the final 3:34 minutes of the half, the Raptors went on a 9-0 run to take a 44-37 lead into the half.
After going on seven minute scoring drought over the second and third quarter and being down by 14, the Spurs managed to claw their way back within one point with less than a minute left in the third. The Spurs went into the final frame trailing the Raptors 63-60.
The Spurs stayed close during the final quarter, but could not pull off a comeback.
The Spurs head back home to take on the Indiana Pacers at AT&T Center on Sunday. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
