Good Deeds Program coming to Brookside High School

County officials and the Lorain County Bar Association are teaming up to help residents understand the property and ownership issues.

According to a news release, the event, called the Lorain County Good Deeds program, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., Jan. 25, in the cafetorium at Brookside High School, 1662 Harris Road in Sheffield Village.

The bar association is providing several volunteer attorneys to discuss legal matters that arise out of the passing of a loved one, the release said.

If you decide to work with one of the attorneys they will discuss costs of their services.

In addition to the attorneys, Lorain County Probate Judge James T. Walther, County Recorder Judy Nedwick and County Clerk of Courts Tom Orlando will speak, the release said.

Walther intends to speak about estate matters including an explanation of different options to title your deed, bank accounts, car titles and the need for a will and storage options.

He and his staff will assist with researching probate records and estate information, according to the release.

Nedwick, whose office holds the vital land records for the county, will help with deed research and printing copies of deeds, the release said.

Orlando, whose office operates the title division, will help with determining the status of car and boat titles, the release said.

This is a free pilot program open to the first 300 people to attend, who live in the 44054 and 44055 zip codes.

Light refreshments will be provided, the release said.

County officials are asking attendees to print their deed out online at www.loraincounty.com/recorder for free before attending the event.
