A female college student has been injured in a razor attack in Mymensingh after refusing a suitor’s romantic advances.
Police say the Economics Department student of the local Muminunnesa Women’s College was recovered and admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Abul Kashem of Fulbaria Upazila was accused in the attack, said Kotowali Police Station OC Shaker Ahammed.
Kashem worked at a garment factory in Dhaka, he said. At 7pm on Friday, Kashem called the girl, a relative, to the Ganginarpar area of Mymensingh.
“When she refused his romantic advances, Kashem slashed at her neck, hands and head with a razor and fled. Her friends rescued her and took her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.”
Police are looking for Kashem, he added.
